Pittsburgh Neighborhood Awaits Power Restoration After Devastating Outage
Residents of Pittsburgh began cleaning up Thursday following a significant storm that resulted in widespread damage across the city.
"I don't believe it has ever been this severe, not even during that downdraft about 10 or 15 years back," Cathy Chmill stated to Channel 11.
Chmill is among the numerous individuals who remain without power in the city of Pittsburgh.
She resides in Morningside, which was among the most severely affected areas. The whole region remains without electricity, even though 24 hours have passed since the storm moved through.
"I've got a gas stove which allows me to cook at high temperatures, but I keeps worrying about all the items in my fridge that will likely go bad," she mentioned.
Mayor Gainey, along with city officials and Duquesne Light executives, conducted a collective press briefing on Wednesday. They stated that the restoration might take around 5 to 7 days. Before the electricity resumes.

"You've heard many people say today that this is the most severe storm they have ever experienced. We understand that recovery will take some time, and we're aware that 200K individuals are currently without power," stated Mayor Gainey to Channel 11.
A further problem the city faces involves approximately 40 intersections where the traffic signals aren't operational due to power failures.
"We're getting numerous reports about hazardous driving at intersections, and our priority is ensuring everybody remains safe," stated Deputy Mayor Jake Pawlak.
