Protesters Flood Streets Nationwide Against Trump's Immigration Crackdown

EL PASO, Texas (Border Report) — On Wednesday, President Trump reached his 100th day in office, coinciding with celebrations at immigration enforcement agencies. plummeting migrant encounters and increasing apprehensions within the nation's interior.
At the same time, supporters of immigrants voiced their anger over the closure of asylum centers, the looming threat of deportations targeting employees who have lived in the U.S. for many years, and the deployment of military personnel at the borders. These organizations intend to stage demonstrations on International Workers Day (which falls on Thursday) and continue their protests afterward.
In El Paso, the Border Network for Human Rights is organizing a march starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday. The procession will begin at the intersection of Father Rahm and El Paso Streets and conclude with a rally at San Jacinto Plaza.
"This mobilization publicly asserts that, despite the expansion of border militarization under the pretense of security and the ongoing separation of families, our communities will remain unified to declare a resolute fact: We are all America," stated Fernando Garcia, the executive director of BNHR.
The team intends to share the narratives of immigrant farm workers, students, and various individuals who play significant roles in contributing to the nation's economic and social fabric.
It will also feature a "Texas Declaration of Human Rights" opposing the administration's crackdown on law enforcement and what it refers to as the "dehumanization" of immigrants and other vulnerable communities.
As they crossed the state border, the group Indivisible-Las Cruces announced a "May Day Strong: We Are the Many" rally beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday in front of the Branigan Library At the crossing of Main Street and Picacho Avenue in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Planners intend to demonstrate against more than just the tightened immigration policies; they're also addressing proposed reductions in federal funding for education, healthcare, and social service programs.
"La Cruces Indivisible is calling for this administration to halt these damaging initiatives and revert to policies prioritizing our community’s needs: Cease cutting funding from public schools, housing programs aiding the homeless, and essential healthcare services," stated the organization.
'May Day' turns into a call-to-action for immigrant rights activists
In Chicago, organizations such as the Immigrant Defense Resistance Council have been active. Arise Chicago intend to convene at Union Park on Thursday morning.
