Johnson and Fields Assess Trump's First 100 Days: A Critical Look

WASHINGTON, D.C. (KALB) - Several Louisiana legislators in Congress are responding to President Donald Trump’s initial 100 days in office now that his second term is ongoing.

On April 29, it was 100 days since Trump regained control of the White House.

On a tweet on X, House Speaker Mike Johnson stated that the president has achieved much more for the American people in his initial 100 days than what the Biden Administration accomplished over four years.

In the meantime, newly elected Democratic Congressman Cleo Fields has assigned President Biden a "D" for his initial 100 days in office. He stated that due to his reverence for the presidential position, he refrained from giving an "F."

This assessment stems from how he has handled tariffs, his decision to dismiss many diligent government workers, and allowing Elon Musk to function as an unappointed leader with unchecked authority," he stated. "During his first 100 days, President Trump acted as though it was my way or no way at all, which isn’t compatible with the principles of a democratic system.

Fields believes Trump’s decision to revoke 1,500 visas from international students, then reverse his decision a week later, “shows how careless the Trump Administration is being with people’s lives.”
