California Honey Festival Moves to June 21: Sweetest Day Ahead!
The California Honey Festival has been moved to June 21 and will be held at the Yolo County Fairgrounds, as stated in an announcement posted by Visit Woodland on their social media platforms.
The event planned for this weekend in downtown Woodland has been rescheduled due to two factors.
Firstly, regarding the weather conditions, several weather applications have indicated potential wind speeds ranging between 20 to 25 miles per hour along with possible light rains," said a spokesperson from Visit Woodland. "Secondly, we owe much gratitude to our supportive sponsors… Without their substantial backing, hosting the Honey Festival would not be feasible. Therefore, we've chosen a date that aligns well with their schedules and those of their staff members.
The yearly gathering, emphasizing the significance of bees and pollinators locally, typically attracts numerous visitors to Woodland. However, last year’s event was relocated from its customary downtown venue to the Yolo County Fairgrounds because of adverse weather conditions.
We're a farming community, and as you know, this is how Woodland originally began," said Al Eby from Visit Woodland last year. "Embracing our agricultural roots is crucial. Bees and pollination perfectly align with the farming activities that define both Woodland and Yolo County.
Eby acknowledges John Foster, a beekeeper and proprietor of BZ Bee Pollination, for his crucial role in establishing the festival.
"If I hadn't encountered him or wasn't tasked with capturing close-up shots of his bees and visiting the apiary to observe the hives and insects, I would remain unaware of the challenges faced by beekeepers like him not only in California but also across the United States," Eby stated.
