Police Capture Brutal Fugitive Accused of Kidnapping and Stabbings in Bridgeport

The Bridgeport police apprehended a fugitive known for violence who is suspected of committing offenses across multiple states, potentially preventing an abduction in the process.
The police stated that they were called to a residence on Gregory Street at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Upon arrival, the responding officers discovered a situation where a 27-year-old male was pursuing a female with a knife.
The woman fled the residence and was attempting to escape when law enforcement arrived at the scene. According to police statements, the individual identified as Nicholas Allwood remained concealed within the premises.
The authorities did not know that a woman was being held captive at the time. According to police statements, they managed to take the knife away from Allwood without anyone getting hurt.
The individual is charged with a major stabbing incident that occurred on Hanover Street roughly two hours prior to their apprehension. Additionally, he is believed to be involved in another stabbing that took place on State Street a few weeks earlier, according to law enforcement officials.
Allwood is facing multiple accusations such as kidnapping, assault, illegal confinement, intimidation, and assaulting a public safety officer, among others. His bail has been set at $1.25 million.
Law enforcement expects further charges to be brought forth related to the stabbing incident.
The authorities stated that Allwood possessed multiple extradition-worthy warrants from various states, with one being for attempted murder stemming from an incident in New York.
According to law enforcement, Allwood refers to himself as "Hawthead" and boasts a significant criminal history. He had been utilizing a false identity to evade capture in Bridgeport.
