Graham Claims Widespread Senate Backing for New Russia Sanctions

Graham stated, "He expressed his frustration." He continued, "My aim is a diplomatic conclusion to the conflict, one that is honorable and fair. I believe Trump is the most suitable individual to accomplish this objective; however, these sanctions reflect the Senate’s stance that Russia is primarily responsible for the issues at hand."
Graham also stated that Russian leader Putin "would be making a significant error attempting to manipulate Trump; thus, this legislation serves as an instrument within President Trump’s toolkit," he explained.

Graham stated that he has sufficient backing in the House to get the sanctions bill brought up for discussion there too.
He forecasted that Putin would ultimately face a choice: either sit down with Trump to conclude the conflict or let the Russian economy be "devastated."
