Man Arrested for Starting Brush Fire in Lynchburg, Officials Say

According to authorities, a man has been detained after a small wildfire occurred at Miller Park.
At approximately 1:11 p.m., both the Lynchburg Police Department and the Lynchburg Fire Department were dispatched to handle a reported minor vegetation fire at Miller Park.
When they arrived, the firefighters swiftly contained and put out the blaze. Authorities state that the fire remained confined to a restricted zone, with neither casualties nor structural damages being recorded.
The LPD stated that it was concluded the fire had been deliberately ignited.

The individuals who saw what happened gave LPD officers a detailed account of the person thought to have started the blaze.
Approximately at 2:43 p.m., law enforcement officers found the suspect close to the Kemper Street Station.
25-year-old William Allen was arrested and charged with one count of: 18.2-86 – Setting fire to woods, fences, grass, etc.
He is presently being detained without bail.
