GBI: Mother and 4-Year-Old Daughter Found Dead in Polk County Home

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), law enforcement discovered a mother from Polk County and her 4-year-old child deceased when they responded to a 911 emergency call at their residence.

On Tuesday, law enforcement officials from Aragon along with Emergency Medical Services personnel went to investigate a "911 hang-up call" at a residence on Walnut Street. Upon arrival, as stated by the GBI, they discovered the deceased bodies of a woman and a child inside the home.

The Aragon Police Chief, John Tortoso, subsequently requested that the GBI look into the fatalities, as stated by the organization.

Agents from the GBI and law enforcement from Polk County concluded that there were no "continuing dangers to the public."

The GBI has yet to disclose the identities of the mother and child.

The GBI extends sincere sympathies to everyone impacted by this event," they stated. "We also acknowledge the professionalism demonstrated by all emergency personnel involved in this case.

Authorities have provided no additional information.

The GBI stated that upon completion of the investigation, it will transfer its case file to the Polk County District Attorney’s Office.
